Red Deer Queer Community Association holding silent auction fundraising campaign
The Red Deer Queer Community Association (RDQCA) says it is spearheading a dynamic fundraising campaign to establish a coffee shop in the heart of Downtown Red Deer.
The organization says the initiative aims to create a welcoming and secure space for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in the area. RDQCA says the pressing need for such a haven has been highlighted by the recent 1 Million March for Children Protests, and this coffee shop will serve as a beacon of hope and inclusivity for all.
“We are thrilled to announce that this coffee shop will be open to everyone, offering a vibrant platform for community members to connect and socialize with like-minded individuals. In the face of increasing hostility towards the 2SLGBTQIA+ community across the country, this project is a bold and positive response to the situation,” reads a statement from the organization.
“As part of our fundraising efforts, we have planned a silent auction,” the statement continues. “We are reaching out to businesses that share our passion for creating a safe and welcoming environment for the community. We invite all interested businesses to contact us at donations.rdqca@gmail.com and join us in this exciting endeavour. Together, we can create a truly inclusive and supportive community that celebrates diversity and values everyone.”
