Rebels again shy of win versus the Giants in west-coast road trip
The Red Deer Rebels were once again just shy of a win (4-3) on Wednesday night against the Vancouver Giants at the Langley Events Centre.
The match-up marks their fifth road game to the west coast and fourth in British Columbia.
Both teams missed some power play opportunities in the first period, leaving the scoreboard untouched. Red Deer was slightly outshooting Vancouver 9-7 after 20 minutes.
In the middle frame, the Rebels’ Frantisek Formanek opened the scoring at 13:47 with a goal in front of the crease on Giants goaltender Brett Mirwald. Assisted by Kai Uchacz, his fourth goal of the season put the team in a 1-0 position.
