A central Alberta man is facing several charges after RCMP seized a pair of stolen vehicles over the weekend linked to numerous area crimes.

On Sept. 23, 2023, at approximately 5:43 a.m., Three Hills RCMP responded to a suspicious male looking for fuel southwest of Three Hills. Mounties say the responding officer located the vehicle and arrested an individual in possession of a stolen truck.

According to police, the male was identified and was wanted on multiple warrants for failing to comply with court orders. RCMP say the stolen vehicle was searched incidental to arrest and officers located break and enter tools and a weapon.

In conjunction with Airdrie Rural RCMP, a second stolen vehicle was located just outside of Linden. Police say this vehicle was linked to numerus other break and enter and thefts throughout Kneehill County and Three Hills.

Simon May, 34, a resident of Linden, Alta., has been charged with:

– Possession or Property Obtained by Crime over $5000 x 2

– Possession or Property Obtained by Crime under $5000

– Break and Enter

– Possession of Break-in Instruments

– Fail to Comply with Undertaking Condition x 3

– Breach of Recognizance x 2

– Trespass at Night

Three Hills RCMP also executed three outstanding warrants, which were for:

– DNA warrant

– Disobeying Order of Court

– Fail to Comply with Undertaking

Following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Mounties say May was remanded into custody to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Drumheller on Sept. 27, 2023.

Three Hills RCMP Detachment Commander Sgt. Jamie Day stated, “I am proud of the work and commitment from the Three Hills officers involved with catching this offender. This demonstrates the importance, effectiveness and dedication from our members. Three Hills RCMP remains fully committed in building safer communities by working in partnership with our community as well as through investigative and enforcement efforts to achieve this goal,”

“An instrumental tool that aided the investigation, was camera footage provided by the victims linking the individual to multiple incidents. I would like to thank Southern Alberta District Crime Analyst for his assistance providing intel that was critical to the investigation,” added Day.
