Rocky Mountain House RCMP seeking armed suspect on O’Chiese First Nation

UPDATE Sept. 19, 11am:

Rocky Mountain House RCMP have rescinded the Police Initiated Public Alert (shelter in place) for O’Chiese First Nation.

Mounties say the suspect is still at large, however, RCMP believe that the immediate threat to public safety has subsided.

RCMP remain in O’Chiese First Nation searching for the suspect. Police believe the suspect is Shaeden Muskeg, 24, who is described as:

  • Medium complexion
  • 5’9” tall
  • 200 lbs
  • Black hair
  • Brown eyes

Mounties say Shaeden Muskeg has warrants for his arrest from a Sept. 13, 2023, incident on Sunchild First Nation where he was charged with:

  • Discharge a firearm with intent
  • Robbery with a firearm
  • Aggravated assault
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to order.

RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Shaeden Muskeg. Muskeg is considered armed and dangerous. If seen, Do not approach, please call 911 immediately.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP are currently on scene at a rural location on the O’Chiese First Nation attempting to search for and arrest an armed suspect.

A Police Initiated Public Alert has been issued.

Mounties allege there is an armed suspect in the area who has fired shots on police. The suspect is believed to be Shaeden Muskeg, age 24.

Shaeden Muskeg is described as:

  • Medium Complexion
  • 5’9” tall
  • 200 lbs
  • Black hair
  • Brown eye

Area residents are asked to shelter in place, do not pick up people on the roadway and secure doors and windows. Please do not post police operations on social media. Call 911 if you see anyone suspicious.
