RCMP in Stettler said late Friday that they’ve now recovered the body of a teen who drowned this week in Buffalo Lake, northeast of Red Deer.
The 17-year-old was identified on Aug. 30, but rdnewsNOW has agreed with the family to not publish his name. The teen was a resident of Airdrie.
It was the day before at about 4:20 p.m. when Stettler RCMP received a report of a possible drowning on Buffalo Lake near Ol’ MacDonalds Resort.
Emergency crews including Stettler Fire, STARS air ambulance, and an RCMP drone responded but were initially unable to locate the victim who was believed to still be in the water.
