Blackfalds RCMP investigating cause of fatal collision involving motorcycle

One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash near Blackfalds Monday.

On Aug. 7, 2023, at 12:48 p.m, Blackfalds RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision involving an SUV and a motorcycle on Highway 597 and the QE II.

According to local Mounties, the driver of the motorcycle has been identified as a 27-year-old male resident of Blackfalds, who was taken to hospital by EMS. However, police say he died of his injuries.

RCMP say one occupant of the SUV was taken to hospital with minor injuries, a second occupant was uninjured. RCMP say they remained on scene for several hours investigating the collision.
