Rebels Ollie Josephson hits the scoresheet for Canada in team’s opening game at Hlinka Gretzky Cup

Red Deer Rebel Ollie Josephson registered an assist in Canada’s 9-6 loss to Finland in the team’s opening game of the 2023 Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Trencin, Slovakia & Břeclav, Czechia on Monday.

The U18 tournament runs from July 31-Aug. 5, with Canada facing Slovakia on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2023. Canada defeated Slovakia 14-4 on Tuesday with Josephson registering another assist for Team Canada, making for 2 so far in the tournament.

Josephson, a native of Victoria, B.C., is a 17-year-old centre with the Rebels who played in 63 regular season games for Red Deer in 2022-2023. He registered 5 goals and 14 assists for 19 points with the team as a 16-year-old last season, in addition to 2 goals and 1 assist and 3 points for the Rebels in 12 playoff games earlier this year.
