Central Alberta golfers do well at Men’s Mid Masters Championship in Olds

A number of central Alberta golfers did well this week at the Men’s Mid Masters Championship in Olds, hosted by Alberta Golf.

Red Deer’s Ken Griffith shot a 67 and finished 2nd behind Calgary’s Jamie Welder. Griffith was two strokes off the pace.

Ponoka’s Tim Boston shot a final round 73 and tied for 7th, eight shots back.

Red Deer’s Dan Soley also tied for 7th.

Tom McKinlay Jr. of Lacombe tied for 23rd.

Lacombe’s Bobby McKinlay tied for 35th.

Peter Innes of Red Deer tied for 39th.

Robert Weseen of Olds tied at 41st.

Upcoming local events include a qualifier for the Men’s Mid-Amateur Central Region at Whispering Pines in Pine Lake, on June 27.

The 2023 Alberta Men’s Amateur Championship runs July 4-6 at Innisfail Golf Club.
