Red Deer RCMP respond to second threat at Central Middle School

Jun 2, 2023 | 4:37 PM

Red Deer RCMP have responded to a second threat at downtown’s Central Middle School in two days.

On Friday at 1:35 p.m., RCMP say the School (5121 48 Ave.) received a threat involving a firearm. The School went into a “Hold and Secure” status and police attended to investigate.

RCMP have confirmed that threats made to the school on June 1 and June 2 were from the same person.

On Thursday, RCMP were called to the school for a bomb threat made over the telephone. Students were evacuated to a nearby church until officers identified, located and met with the youth who made the threat.

RCMP have confirmed there was no risk to the school or students on Friday.

They say they are in contact with the youth and a criminal investigation is underway.

RCMP say they thank the Red Deer Public School division, students, staff, and the public for their cooperation.
