Red Deer RCMP have arrested a female after she allegedly spray-painted the downtown provincial court house while in possession of a weapon.

On May 17, 2023, shortly after 7:00 a.m., Red Deer RCMP say they received a call from Alberta Sheriffs at the Red Deer Provincial Court House (4909 48 Ave), who reported a female spray-painting the building.

While en route to the Court House, Red Deer RCMP say they received a second call advising the female now had a knife and was making threats.

They say numerous RCMP members responded and located the female, who was arrested and taken into custody.

No injuries were reported.

Officers say charges are pending against a 42-year old female, a resident of Red Deer, who remains in custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Release Hearing.

The Red Deer RCMP says they would like to thank the Alberta Sheriffs for their partnership and early intervention in the matter.
