Record temperatures seen throughout central Alberta again on Wednesday

More temperature records have been broken throughout central Alberta and other parts of the province this week.

On Wednesday, the Red Deer area set a new temperature record for May 3, of 29.1 degrees Celsius, beating the former record high of 27.9 degree Celsius set in 2016. Records in this area have been kept since 1904.

The Lacombe area set a new record high of 29.6 degrees Celsius on May 3, beating the old record of 28.3 degrees Celsius set in 1945. Records in this area have been kept since 1907.

In the Rocky Mountain House area, a new record of 29.0 degrees Celsius was set on May 3, beating the former record of 24.4 degrees Celsius set in 1918. Records in this area have been kept since 1915.

The Nordegg area set a new record high of 28.4 degrees Celsius on May 3, surpassing the previous record of 25.4 degrees Celsius set in 2016. Records in this area have been kept since 1915.

In the Sundre area, a new record of 28.2 degrees Celsius was reached on May 3, beating the old record of 28.0 degrees Celsius set in 2016. Records in this area have been kept since 1993.

In the Breton area, a new record high of 29.5 degrees Celsius was set on May 3, beating the old record of 27.1 degrees Celsius set in 2016. Records in this area have been kept since 1939.

Finally, in the Stettler area, a new record was also set for May 3, hitting a daytime high of 29.2 degrees Celsius and beating the old record of 29.1 degrees Celsius set in 2016. Records in this area have been kept since 1918.
