AJHL names 2022-2023 All-League and All-Rookie teams

The Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) has announced its 2022-2023 All-League and All-Rookie teams, and there is some central Alberta flair.

All-League

South Division

G – Ethan Barwick – Brooks Bandits
D – Sam Court – Brooks Bandits
D – Tanner Willick – Blackfalds Bulldogs
F – Aiden Fink – Brooks Bandits
F – Ty Daneault – Drumheller Dragons
F – Conyr Hellyer – Okotoks Oilers

For the Bulldogs, Tanner Willick recorded six goals and 47 assists (3rd) for 53 points (4th) in 49 games. The Saskatoon native’s numbers also include two power play goals, 22 power play assists (2nd), and 30 penalty minutes which was the lowest of the top 10 scoring d-men. Willick has committed to American International College. *numbers are among defensemen

North Division

G – Conor Mackenzie – Grande Prairie Storm
D – Caleb MacDonald – Whitecourt Wolverines
D – Jack Budd – Bonnyville Pontiacs
F – Matteo Giampa – Bonnyville Pontiacs
F – Nicolas Beaudoin – Bonnyville Pontiacs
F – Luigi Benincasa – Spruce Grove Saints

For the Wolverines, Caleb MacDonald tallied nine goals and 50 assists (2nd) for 59 points (2nd) in 59 games. From Cambridge, ON, MacDonald had six power play goals (1st) and 19 power play assists (3rd) with 124 penalty minutes. He has committed to the University of Alaska Fairbanks. *numbers are among defensemen

All-Rookie

South Division

G – Spencer Borsos – Calgary Canucks
D – Sam Court – Brooks Bandits
D – Aiden Celebrini – Brooks Bandits
F – Hudson Malinoski – Brooks Bandits
F – Layne Loomer – Blackfalds Bulldogs
F – Myles Gauld – Camrose Kodiaks

Loomer, who is from Lethbridge, notched 17 goals (6th) and 30 assists (5th) for 47 points in 55 games for Blackfalds. *numbers are among rookies

North Division

G – Erick Roest – Sherwood Park Crusaders
D – Noah Heinrich – Bonnyville Pontiacs
D – Morgan Brady – Spruce Grove Saints
F – Nicolas Beaudoin – Bonnyville Pontiacs
F – Max Seguin – Bonnyville Pontiacs
F – Gavin Middendorf – Drayton Valley Thunder

From Forest Lake, Minnesota, Middendorf put up 25 goals (3rd) and 14 assists for 39 points (8th) in 54 games. He also had eight power play goals (3rd). *numbers are among rookies
