There are plenty of reasons for a local Red Deer man to celebrate.

That’s because he won $100,000 on the EXTRA he added to his January 17 LOTTO MAX draw ticket.

While at a local store to pull out cash, the Red Deerian decided it was a good time to check his tickets. When he scanned his tickets using the self-checker, he couldn’t believe his eyes!

“I was so shocked,” he said. “I actually thought I won $10,000.”

But after looking at a photo he took to commemorate his win, he realized it was $100,000. The happy winner has one big plan for his windfall.

“I’m going to put it towards buying a home,” he said.

Lottery officials say the man purchased his ticket for the January 17 LOTTO MAX draw from Circle K at 9109 92 Avenue in Grande Prairie on January 16. He won by matching the last six digits of the winning EXTRA number for the January 17 LOTTO MAX draw – 2668744.

“I’m still in shock, you just never think it will happen to you,” he added.
