Serious injury collision caused by vehicle fleeing Wetaskiwin RCMP
A 61-year-old driver is in stable condition following a collision with a vehicle that had been fleeing police in Wetaskiwin.
On Jan. 5, 2023, Wetaskiwin RCMP say they received a report of an individual in the city with a firearm on 37a Ave. As officers arrived, they say the suspect entered a Ford F150 pickup and fled.
Officers say they initially attempted to stop the vehicle; however, due to the dangerous driving and speed, they disengaged and did not pursue any further.
Shortly after, the vehicle collided with a Chevy Equinox at the intersection of 56 St. and 40 Ave. The driver of the Equinox, a 61-year-old male, received serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains in stable condition.
