More record low temperatures unofficially set for December 22 throughout central Alberta
Officials with Environment and Climate Change Canada say more record low temperatures have unofficially been set throughout Alberta this week, including for the Red Deer area.
Meteorologists say the Red Deer area set a new record low for December 22 of – 39.0 degrees Celsius, beating the old record of – 35. 0 degrees set in 1916. Records in this area have been kept since 1904.
Elsewhere, the Lacombe area set a new record low for December 22 of – 38.5 degrees Celsius, beating the previous record of – 35.6 degrees set in 1916. Records in this area have been kept since 1907.
The Rocky Mountain House area set a new record low for December 22 of – 41.0 degrees Celsius, beating the old record of – 35.0 degrees set in 1916. Records in this area have been kept since 1915.
