RCMP are investigating a suspected impaired driving crash near Red Deer this week that sent multiple people to hospital.

Cpl. Troy Savinkoff, Alberta RCMP, says shortly after 2:00 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 21, Blackfalds RCMP responded to several reports of a four-vehicle collision in the westbound lane of Highway 11A at the QEll overpass near Red Deer.

“Upon arrival, officers observed that occupants of two of the vehicles had no injuries. Occupants of one vehicle had some more serious injuries that had to be taken to the hospital to treat,” he explains. “The driver of one of the vehicles, a 38-year-old Sylvan Lake woman, was arrested on scene. An investigation is ongoing for impaired driving.”

“Emergency crews were on scene for some time while they cleared the scene and the highway was opened back up after a couple hours,” adds Savinkoff.
