Toys for Tickets back in its original form for 2022
Toys for Tickets is back in 2022 and, for the first time since the pandemic, City officials note the program is reverting to its original form – inviting Red Deer parking ticket holders to drop off a toy at City Hall as payment for their ticket.
Since 2010, The City of Red Deer’s annual Toys for Tickets program has allowed citizens to pay parking tickets with a toy. The campaign happens in November and all gifts obtained through the program are donated to the Red Deer Christmas Bureau.
In 2020 and 2021, the program was changed in response to pandemic precautions. Rather than asking ticket holders to purchase and drop off toy donations, The City made financial donations directly to the Christmas Bureau.
“We’re pleased to announce the return of Toys for Tickets in its original form and look forward to welcoming Red Deerians to City Hall to drop off toy donations,” said Amy Fengstad, Acting Inspections and Licensing Manager. “By picking the perfect toy at a local business, participants can be part of making this initiative an extra special part of this holiday season.”
