Man known to central Alberta police makes Most Wanted list

A man known to police and the justice system in central Alberta is one of the country’s 25 most wanted, according to the Bolo Program.

Described as a breakthrough initiative, the Bolo (police terminology for ‘be on the lookout‘) Program website says it leverages social media, technology, and innovative engagement to encourage citizens to be on the lookout for Canada’s most wanted.

On the updated list, released Tuesday, is 27-year-old Quinten Anthony Meyer, who as of July 2021, was a resident of Lacombe, RCMP said at the time.

It was July 11, 2021 when Meyer was arrested near Red Deer Regional Hospital after allegedly carjacking a woman.

Meyer was scheduled to stand trial on the matter on June 2, 2022, but he requested it be adjourned. The trial was then rescheduled to Aug. 29, but he failed to appear, leading to an arrest warrant, the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service tells rdnewsNOW.

Now, Meyer is wanted in British Columbia.

It was July 30, 2022, police say, when members responded to a report of a man who had allegedly broken into a home and sexually assaulted a resident. The suspect was arrested the same day and then released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.

“The ongoing investigation has determined the man arrested on July 30, 2022 provided a false name to police officers and he has now been positively identified as 27-year-old Quinten Anthony Meyer,” Oceanside RCMP said in a release on Aug. 8, 2022.

“Quinten Meyer has been charged with break and enter, sexual assault, assault with a weapon and obstruction of a police officer. Quinten Meyer is described as Caucasian, 5 feet and 10 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds with blonde hair shaved on both sides, blue eyes and a skull tattoo on his left hand.”

The incident took place, according to police, in the Morello Road area of Nanoose Bay, about 25 minutes north of Nanaimo.

Police say he has family connections on Vancouver Island, in the Okanagan, and in Calgary.
