Red Deer city council approves 2023 meeting dates

Red Deer city council approved their meeting dates for 2023.

At their Monday meeting, council approved the following dates:

• Monday, January 9: Regular Council Meeting @ 10:30 a.m.
• Monday, January 23: Regular Council Meeting @ 10:30 a.m.
• Monday, February 6: Regular Council Meeting @ 10:30 a.m.
• Tuesday, February 21: Regular Council Meeting @ 10:30 a.m.
• Monday, March 6: Regular Council Meeting @ 10:30 a.m.
• Monday, March 20: Regular Council Meeting @ 10:30 a.m.
• Monday, April 3: Regular Council Meeting @ 10:30 a.m.
• Monday, April 17: Regular Council Meeting @ 10:30 a.m.
• Thursday, April 20: Regular Council Meeting/Agency Day @ 10:30 a.m.
• Monday, May 1: Regular Council Meeting @ 10:30 a.m.
• Monday, May 15: Regular Council Meeting @ 10:30 a.m.
• Monday, June 12: Regular Council Meeting @ 10:30 a.m.
• Monday, June 26: Regular Council Meeting @ 10:30 a.m.

• Monday, November 20-23: 2024 Multi-Year Budget Review @ 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Monday, December 4: Regular Council Meeting @ 10:30 a.m.
• Monday, December 18: Regular Council Meeting @ 10:30 a.m.

The initial start time proposed for Agency Day on April 20 and September 21 was 1 p.m.; however, Councillor Vesna Higham suggested to change the schedule for a start time of 10:30 a.m. the same as other Regular Council Meetings, stating that more time was needed to address the many organizations wishing to speak to council. Council agreed with the change unanimously.

As well, the council meeting dates for 2022 were approved to allocate one day for the 2022-2023 Multi-Year Budget Meeting, scheduled for November 28.

Administration recommended adding two more days this year for the budget to allow sufficient time for consideration.

Council approved the recommendation to add November 29 and 30 for budget deliberations. The meetings from November 28-30 will begin at 10:30 a.m. and end at 4:30 p.m.

The Regular Council meeting on Monday, December 5, 2022 will be rescheduled to Monday, December 12, 2022 to allow administration time to prepare for the next council meeting.
