Survey Underway Until Oct. 19, 2022

Central Sport seeking input on more accessible and inclusive sports opportunities in Red Deer

Aug 30, 2022 | 3:02 PM

Officials with Central Sport say they want to connect children ages 6-12 in Red Deer to more accessible and inclusive sports opportunities and resources.

As a result, from now until Oct. 19, 2022, Red Deerians are asked to provide their input through community conversations and an online survey to help Central Sport understand how children and families access sport resources in Red Deer. The survey is available at centralsport.ca.

Officials say the community conversations and survey are part of Central Sport’s inclusivity and accessibility project aimed at opening sustainable, authentic, and meaningful conversations about making sport opportunities, resources, and equipment more accessible and inclusive for all local children 6-12 and their families.

The project is said to be facilitated by Brandi Heather Consulting and funded in part by The City of Red Deer.

“We are committed to and recognize that to be an inclusive and accessible sport resource for all people in Red Deer, we need to engage, listen, and learn in collaboration with and connection to our community,” said Allan Ferchuk, Central Sport Chair. “We value the input from Red Deerians, which will help us to create more inclusive and accessible sport resources for children and their families in Red Deer.”

In addition to the survey, Central Sport says it will be reaching out to and encouraging conversations and meetings with, but not limited to, families, educators, community organizations, and caregivers.
