Alberta Open Round 1 results

A pair of Central Alberta golfers are in the hunt after round 1 of the Alberta Open.

The weather held for day 1 of the Alberta Open at the Sundre Golf Club and Lacombe’s Brady Mckinlay took advantage with a 3-under 69. The 21 year-old lefty is tied for 4^th, 2 shots back of Ethan Choi of Lethbridge who fired a 5-under 67. Both players are on the amateur side.

On the pro side, Scott Shouldice of the home club is the top central Albertan tied for 8^th after an even par 72, 4 shots back of leader Stefan Cox of the Calgary Golf & Country Club. Grant Numrich of the Red Deer Golf & Country Club is tied for 10^th after a 1 over 73, 5 off the pace. Jared Nicolls of the Wolf Creek Golf Resort is tied for 14^th, after a 2-over 74.

Round 2 of the 54 hole event continues today (Wed).
