In celebration of Penhold Youth Week, the town has named Logan Windebank as the very first Mayor’s Youth Award winner.

Mayor Mike Yargeau presented the award at the town’s council meeting on May 9.

The award recognizes and honors a resident from Grades 7-12 who has made a positive impact in the town whether through the community, school or an organization.

Logan Windebank received a trophy and an appreciation cheque for $250.

The town says Windebank is extremely involved in the community. He has volunteered at the Penhold Fall Festival and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Red Deer and District – Youth HQ. He also sits on the Leadership Team and other school groups, while being chosen to represent the Chinook’s Edge Students Matter committee.

“Windebank is a very engaging young man who has strong and important opinions addressing very important world issues,” the Town said in a release. “Windebank functions with compassion, kindness, thoughtfulness, ingenuity, and inclusion without hesitation or fail.”

Nominations took place from March 15 – April 15. There were seven nominations received for the Mayor’s Youth Award.

Penhold Youth Week is held from May 9-15. The town dedicated the week to youth from grades 4-12, setting up various activities like art workshops, gym days, a barbeque and more.
