Average rental costs in Red Deer remain low

Average rents for a one bedroom unit in Red Deer came in lower last month when compared to the same month last year, but two bedroom units are still seeing higher average rental costs.

According to the latest National Rent Report from Rentals.ca, the average rent for a one bedroom unit in Red Deer last month was $943, down .21 per cent from March and 2.58 per cent from April 2021, placing Red Deer 34th on the list of 35 Canadian cities listed in the report.

Meanwhile, the average rent for a two bedroom unit in Red Deer came in at $1,083 per month, up 3.14 per cent from March and 1.03 per cent from April of last year.

Elsewhere in Alberta, Calgary placed 24th on the list with an average rent of $1,361 per month for a one bedroom unit and $1,619 for a two bedroom.

Edmonton placed 30th on the list with an average rent of $1,017 per month for a one bedroom unit and $1,260 for a two bedroom.

Right behind the capital was Lethbridge which placed 31st on the list, with an average rent of $1,013 per month for a one bedroom unit and $1,138 per month for a two bedroom unit.

Lloydminster, AB rounded out the list of 35 Canadian cities with an average rent of $744 per month for a one bedroom unit and $853 per month for a two bedroom place.

Vancouver topped the list with an average rent of $2,280 per month for a one bedroom unit and $3,122 for a two bedroom place.
