Lacombe Police charge two with drug offences after traffic stop
Two people have been charged after a traffic stop in Lacombe this week.
Lacombe Police Service says it was about 3:40 in the morning on March 24 (Thursday), when members stopped a silver Dodge Durango travelling north on Highway 2A for a provincial traffic violation.
During the stop, police entered into a Controlled Drug and Substances Act investigation, meaning the vehicle was then searched. In the vehicle, members found quantities of psilocybin (magic mushrooms) and carfentanil, plus several weapons. The drugs have an estimated street value over $14,000.
A 25-year-old man and 24-year-old woman, both from Red Deer, are charged with three counts of possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The male faces an additional count of possessing a weapon contrary to a weapons prohibition.
