Pop-up public library branch opening at Bower Place
Red Deer Public Library is thrilled to announce a new temporary “pop-up” library located at Bower Place Shopping Centre. Open to the public from April to October, 2022, this gives us a chance to bring some of the same services our customers love to a new location.
Open during all regular mall hours, customers can visit our Bower Mall pop-up library to sign up for a new library card or renew their existing membership, which is free for Red Deer residents. They can browse and borrow library materials from the pop-up collection (which includes books, movies, puzzles, kits, literacy backpacks, and more), attend a library program, or bring their children to enjoy playing and reading in our children’s corner. Library staff will be available to tell customers about our full suite of library programs, collections, services, and resources, including information about our three permanent library locations.
“We love connecting with the community in new and exciting ways, and after two years of being more apart than together, we are really looking forward to celebrating with this new initiative. We are excited to showcase everything that the library has to offer to people of all ages, and hope to sign up many new users for free library memberships during our time at the mall,” says Briana Ehnes, RDPL’s Events & Innovation Manager.“In a time when goods and services are becoming increasingly expensive, we feel that we have so much to offer — free of charge — that can really enhance people’s lives.”
The pop-up library will open to the public on Monday,April 4, 2022, and is located near The Bay, across from Purdy’s Chocolatier.
