Health Foundation launches 2022 Hospital Lottery

The 2022 Red Deer Hospital Lottery is officially underway.

This year’s dream home, built by Sorento, is at 145 Emerald Drive in Red Deer’s new Evergreen neighbourhood, and is valued at $940,332. The 2,994 square foot house features three large bedrooms, 2.5 baths and a large flex room downstairs.

The Mega Bucks raffle also returns with a $1 million jackpot.

With funds raised, the Red Deer Regional Health Foundation (RDRHF) will try to wipe out an 83-item long list of critical items and upgrades to medical equipment at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.

“By critical, I mean things that if they break or stop working, it can mean services may be cancelled, and people may have to go to Calgary or Edmonton to receive care,” says Manon Therriault, RDRHF CEO.

“Every hospital has a foundation, and that’s because there is just not enough money to go around for health care in terms of equipment replacement. Oftentimes, AHS may be able to cover some equipment, but not in a timely fashion, maybe six to eight months. That’s when the foundation can jump in and ensure services remain, and we also look at enhancements for our hospital, so the fancier bells and whistles that can make care even better.”

This year, the dream home is open for public viewing, a change from last year due to the pandemic. Hours are from 1-5 on Saturday and Sunday, which could change.

Dream home tickets are 1 for $25, 5 for $75, 10 for $125 and 25 for $250. Mega Bucks tickets are $10 each, 10 for $25, 25 for $50, and 50 for $75.

There are also 120 other prizes to be won valued at more than $1.1 million, with an early bird prize of $25,000 cash — the deadline for that being 11 p.m. on May 25. There’s also a 2022 GMC Yukon to be won.

Final cutoff for tickets is 11 p.m. on June 20, with draws happening on June 30. The early bird draw will take place June 8.
