Red Deer reaches union agreement for Transit and Fleet employees

The City of Red Deer and the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 569 have reached an agreement affecting over 100 city employees.

City council accepted and ratified at Monday’s meeting a new two-year collective agreement with the ATU Local 569.

ATU and The City met over eight days of bargaining and one day of mediation. Officials state negotiations were conducted in a respectful and productive manner, resulting in a tentative memorandum of agreement.

ATU members approved the memorandum of agreement on February 7, 2022. The agreement is in effect from January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2022. While the new agreement is said to include several mutually beneficial changes, wages will remain the same.

This collective agreement covers approximately 120 employees in the City’s Transit and Fleet department.
