Red Deer Hospice Society launches community gift matching in February

Throughout the month of February, every gift made to the Red Deer Hospice Society will be matched by the Red Deer Twilight Homes Foundation (to a maximum of $10,000 from Twilight Homes).

Officials say all donations made through this community matching initiative will go towards replacing the original ten resident beds.

“We are so fortunate to be able to partner with an incredible local community builder to raise money for this much needed equipment,” shared Jerri Taylor, Executive Director at the Red Deer Hospice Society. “It’s great for donors to know that every dollar they give in February equals two!”

In 2021, the Red Deer Hospice Society identified the need to replace their original ten resident beds after years of being well utilized. The resident bed is a place to feel comfortable and cared for and is a key item in providing quality end of life care for residents.

With ten beds to replace and the addition of a ‘cuddle bed’ to accommodate loved ones when requested, the cost of replacing the resident beds will be over $150,000 to Hospice over the next year.

“The gift matching donations will be instrumental in helping us reach our goal and continuing to provide top quality end of life care for people in our community,” said Taylor.

The Red Deer Twilight Homes Foundation has been a long-time supporter of the Red Deer Hospice Society, playing a key role in both the initial construction of the house in 2005 and the recent expansion in 2019 to sixteen resident rooms.
