2022 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Alberta now taking registrations

The Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Alberta is back virtually again in 2022.

The 11th annual event hosted by the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) wants you to get ‘freezin’ for a reason’ by taking a dip in an ice bath or hitting a backyard slip and slide.

“To ensure the safety of everyone involved in the plunge, we felt it was important to return to a virtual event in 2022,” says Graham Abela, LETR Executive Council Chair. “This event is critical in helping get Special Olympics athletes back on the field and so we encourage participants to get involved, get creative, and support a great cause.”

Plunge season, as they call it, begins Jan. 30 and runs until March 12. Fundraising will remain open until March 20.

To participate, post a video of your plunge to social media while making sure to tag @PlungeAlberta and by using the hashtags #FreezinForAReason and #PlungeYourWay. Videos are also to be sent to info@specialolympics.ab.ca, which can be done on the event’s official website.
