This past weekend the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Basketball team and both Volleyball teams defeated the Medicine Hat College Rattlers twice.

The Queens Basketball team split their weekend series.

In Calgary, the Queens Hockey team shutout the SAIT Trojans, while the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Hockey team was edged by the Trojans in overtime.

Kings Basketball | Friday, November 26 | Medicine Hat College

The Kings Basketball team defeated the Medicine Hat College Rattlers 83-75.

Brazil’s Eduardo Crespo led Red Deer Polytechnic with 20 points.

Kings Basketball | Sunday, November 28 | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre

The Kings downed the Rattlers 71-62 at Red Deer Polytechnic.

Payton Baltzer was named the North Star Sports Kings Player of the Game, contributing eight rebounds, six points, four assists and two blocks.

Queens Basketball | Friday, November 26 | Medicine Hat College

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Basketball team continued its success on the road and defeated the Rattlers 63-55 in Medicine Hat.

Amy Szymanek, a Bachelor of Education Middle School student, had a game high 26 points for the Queens.

Queens Basketball | Sunday, November 28 | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre

The Queens had a strong second half, but the Rattlers picked up a 65-45 win.

Red Deer’s Keanna Richards was named the North Star Sports Queens Player of the Game.

Kings Hockey | Friday, November 26 | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre

The SAIT Trojans edged the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings 6-5 in overtime.

Kyle Salaway, an Electrical Engineering Technician student, scored a pair of goals for the Polytechnic. Cruz Cote, Jacob Kendall and Tyler Podgorenko added singles.

Queens Hockey | Friday, November 26 | SAIT

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Hockey team defeated the SAIT Trojans 4-0 in Calgary.

Queens first-year goaltender Tanya Disotell-Dunsmore recorded her second shutout in her second start in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC). Prince Albert’s Alli Soyko scored a hat trick. Monica Bowtell, a first-year Bachelor of Education Elementary student, added one goal.

Kings Volleyball | Friday, November 26 | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre

The Kings Volleyball team swept the Medicine Hat College Rattlers (25-12, 25-14 and 25-14).

Middle Cody Boulding was outstanding, contributing eight kills and three blocks and earning the North Star Sports Kings Player of the Game.

Kings Volleyball | Sunday, November 28 | Medicine Hat College

The Kings downed the Rattlers in three sets (25-19, 25-18 and 25-14).

Kings Player of the Match Patrik Toze led the offence with seven kills.

Queens Volleyball | Friday, November 26 | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre

The first place Queens dropped the Rattlers in straight sets (25-11, 25-10 and 25-23).

Outside hitter Anna Carlson had a match high 12 kills for the Polytechnic. Red Deer’s Sydney Rix was effective in the middle, totaling 11 kills, one dig and one block.

Queens Volleyball | Sunday, November 28 | Medicine Hat College

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens swept the Medicine Hat College Rattlers in Medicine Hat (25-9, 25-14 and 25-14).

Ponoka’s Tess Pearman had 10 kills. Queens Player of the Game Danielle Wiens contributed 26 assists, two digs, two blocks and an ace.
