Red Deer Polytechnic Athletics is proud to announce RDP Athletes of the Week:

1. Jaiden Ferguson – Queens Volleyball

Hometown – Red Deer, AB – Business Administration General (2nd year)

Jaiden Ferguson played a key role in the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Volleyball team sweeping the Lethbridge College Kodiaks in a pair of weekend matches.

In Friday’s road victory (25-14, 25-23 and 26-24), the five-foot-11 outside hitter was the Polytechnic’s offensive dynamo, contributing a game high 12 kills over three sets. She added five digs, one stuff block, and one service ace, and was one of the Queens’ best passing outside hitters in the match.

Then on Sunday, the second-year excelled in the role provided to her by Chris Wandler, Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Volleyball Head Coach. The student-athlete from Red Deer applied service pressure to the Kodiaks and recorded one ace in the home win (25-19, 25-21 and 25-15). Ferguson, who is a Business Administration General student, was solid defensively and supported her teammates over the two matches, helping the Queens to go 2-0 in the early stages of the season without dropping a single set.

2. Maddux Greves – Kings Volleyball

Hometown – Calgary, AB – Business Administration General (4th year)

Maddux Greves had a good weekend on the court, helping the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Volleyball team earn two match victories against the Lethbridge College Kodiaks.

The six-foot-three setter accumulated 44 assists, 10 digs, four service aces and one kill in the four set road decision on Friday (20-25, 25-21, 25-19 and 25-22). Greves was named the Kings Player of the Game for his efforts.

On Sunday, the fourth-year was instrumental in helping the defending Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) champions sweep the Kodiaks at Red Deer Polytechnic (25-17, 25-15, 26-24). He totaled 28 assists, four aces, four digs, and one kill in the home win. The Business Administration General student went about his craft in a calm and collected manner.
