Salvation Army aims high with $250,000 Christmas Kettle goal

Nov 11, 2021 | 3:35 PM

The Salvation Army’s annual Christmas Kettle Campaign begins Nov. 12, and officials hope to raise $250,000 to help Red Deer’s most vulnerable.

Donations support the organization’s year-round programs which rely heavily on volunteers to make it a success.

Officials say every Kettle needs an attendant, so having enough volunteers is critical to the campaign’s success. Kettle donations will support programs such as food hampers, Christmas assistance, school feeding programs, and more.

“Our volunteers are more vital than ever, as we are hoping to fill over 1500 two-hour shifts from now until Christmas Eve,” says Major Kent Hepditch, Corps Officer with The Salvation Army in Red Deer. “Even one shift a week or one shift during the campaign can help us reach our goal.”
