RCMP and Transport Canada are looking into the cause of a plane crash near Ponoka Thursday.

On Oct. 14, at 3:28 p.m., Ponoka RCMP received a complaint of a plane crash at the Ponoka Airport. Upon arrival, Mounties say the pilot and only occupant had already safely exited the plane without sustaining any injuries.

The initial investigation has revealed that the plane was in the midst of taking off when it flipped on the runway. RCMP, Fire, and EMS have cleared from the scene.

RCMP say they will continue to liaise with Transport Canada as the investigation progresses.
