Ponoka RCMP respond to robbery with a weapon complaint

Two men are facing charges following a robbery and assault with a weapon at a residence in Ponoka this weekend.

On Oct. 9, at approximately 9:40 a.m., Ponoka RCMP responded to a complaint of a robbery at a residence in Ponoka. Mounties say two males entered the residence and assaulted the occupant of the residence with a baseball bat.

The suspects are said to have stolen a small amount of money, along with some electronics equipment. The victim was able to flee the residence to a neighbor’s house and call 911, while the two male suspects fled the residence in a small SUV.

Police say the suspects were located at a residence on the Montana first nation and were taken into custody without incident. Both individuals are currently in custody and awaiting court appearances.

Connor Saddleback, 27, has been charged with robbery with a weapon, assault with a weapon, and four counts of fail to comply with a probation order. Junior Rain, 21, has been charged with robbery with a weapon.
