Tickets sales delayed for 2021 Festival of Trees

Oct 4, 2021 | 1:31 PM

Tickets for the 2021 Festival of Trees in Red Deer were supposed to go on sale Oct. 4, but that target has been moved back.

Organizers say tickets will now be up for purchase as of Oct. 19, with everything else going ahead as planned.

Festival of Wines and Mistletoe Magic take place Nov. 26 and 27, respectively.

The festival itself will feature, as usual, a beautiful Tree Room, large silent auction, the Christmas Gift & Sweet Shop, and perennial kids-favourite, Candy Cane Lane. All activities will take place at Westerner Park in the Exhibition Hall and Stockmens Pavilion from Nov. 26-28.

Festival of Trees will raise funds to support the purchase of critically needed equipment for the operating room at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.

Meantime, volunteers are still needed and play an integral role in the success of Festival of Trees, and this event involves the cooperative efforts of over 1,000 volunteers.

Those interested can sign up now to work as a decorator, in food services, volunteer coordinating, or during setup and tear down. Or, during event hours, there are multiple jobs in special events, Raffle Alley, the silent auction, Gift/Sweet Shop, Candy Cane Lane, gate admissions, and accounting.

You can volunteer for one shift or several. Event organizers encourage anyone interested to complete the volunteer form or reach out to their office through their website, www.reddeerfestivaloftrees.ca/volunteer.

Because the event is taking place at Westerner Park, which has signed up for the province’s Restrictions Exemption Program, all attendees and volunteers will need to show proof of vaccination.
