A Lloydminster man faces several criminal charges after an incident that wound up in central Alberta earlier this week.

It was the early afternoon of Sept. 12, RCMP say, when a Dodge Ram pick-up truck in Camrose was reported stolen to police.

In the earlier evening of Sept. 13, Calgary Police Service HAWCS helicopter located the stolen vehicle within city limits. The vehicle was followed into Rocky View County at which point RCMP were notified.

RCMP say that upon seeing the RCMP vehicle, the truck fled at a high rate of speed. HAWCS continued to monitor the vehicle for two hours as it travelled through rural areas.

The vehicle then entered a property near Elnora in Red Deer County. A suspect abandoned it and fled into a nearby field when confronted by the property owner.

Containment was set up with help from neighbouring detachments, while Three Hills RCMP and Police Dog Services searched the area. The male was not located, however.

At about 10 a.m. on Sept. 14, the suspect was located in Elnora and arrested without incident.

Dean Deschover, 29, was wanted on outstanding warrants for property-related offences, and faces new charges, including:

· Possession of stolen Property over $5000
· Flight from peace officer
· Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
· Possession of a controlled substance
· Mischief under $5000
· Fail to comply with release order (x2)
· Drive with no insurance (TSA)
· Operate a motor vehicle without an operator’s licence (TSA)

Deschover did not speak to bail and will appear in Lloydminster provincial court on Sept. 21.
