Ponoka woman facing drug & firearm charges out of Grande Prairie

A Ponoka woman is facing charges in connection to a a police investigation in Grande Prairie.

On July 6, the GP RCMP Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant at a home in the area of 94 Street and 121 Avenue.

The search resulted in the seizure of 80 grams of suspected fentanyl, 75 grams of meth, five grams of cocaine, 100 prescription pills, a loaded .32 calibre revolver, 88 rounds of .32 calibre ammunition, a crossbow and $2,900 cash.

Two individuals, including one who was wanted on several outstanding warrants on unrelated matters, were arrested at the home.

Danica Nystrom, 25, of Ponoka is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (x2), Failing to Comply with an Undertaking (x2), Unsafe Storage of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, and Possession of Break-in Instruments.

Stacey Trotter, 35, of Grande Prairie faces similar charges.

Trotter and Nystrom have been remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on Wednesday, July 14.
