Pair arrested after allegedly fleeing police and trying to change appearance

Two people have been charged following an incident last week in Innisfail.

RCMP say it was about 7:30 p.m. on May 30 when members responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle near the local CO-OP Card Lock.

Members located the vehicle and tried to conduct a traffic stop, however the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed.

Members of the public helped keep RCMP apprised of where the vehicle was by providing sighting updates, RCMP say.

At one point, the vehicle is said to have suffered damage to its underside, leaving a trail of fluid in its path. The vehicle was determined stolen and then discovered shortly thereafter in an alley between 45 and 46 Avenue in Innisfail.

Two suspects were seen fleeing on foot, police say.

RCMP Police Dog Services were utilized and tracked the pair to a local motel where they were arrested after allegedly trying to change their appearance.

Christopher Lyle Hannah, 45, and Christina Lynn Tiffin-Taylor, 42, each of Innisfail, have been jointly charged with two counts of flight from police, possession of property obtained by crime, and two counts of failure to comply with a release order.

Tiffin-Taylor is also charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and driving while unauthorized, as well as other charges under the Traffic Safety Act.

They are both scheduled to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on July 14.
