Active caseload for Red Deer down to 230

Red Deer now has 230 active cases of COVID-19, the lowest amount since April 10.

The new active caseload is down nine from yesterday. Meantime, the city added 22 recoveries for a total of 5,354, as well as 13 new cases for a pandemic grand total of 5,624.

Red Deer’s death toll stemming from COVID-19 remains 40.

On the vaccination front, 54,198 Red Deerians have now received at least one dose, including 10,530 who are fully vaccinated with two doses. More geographic vaccination data is here.

The Central Zone as a whole has 788 active cases as of Wednesday, down 38, with 53 hospitalizations, up three, and 11 people receiving intensive care at Red Deer Regional Hospital, down two. The Central Zone has had 157 deaths linked to COVID-19, including one reported today, a male in his 50s who died on May 31.

Across the province, Alberta reported 410 new cases on Wednesday out of 8,315 test results for a positivity rate of ~4.9 per cent.

Active cases in the province are down to 6,305, a one-day decrease of 466.

There are 435 Albertans hospitalized due to the virus, down three, including 122 in intensive care, down five.

Four new deaths linked to COVID-19 were reported in the past day to bring the province’s total to 2,231. Details are as follows:

· Date of death: May 22. A male in his 70s in Edmonton Zone. The case included comorbidities.

· Date of death: May 25. A female in her 50s in North Zone. There are no known comorbidities at this time.

· Date of death: May 31. A male in his 60s in Calgary Zone. The case included comorbidities.

· Date of death: May 31. A male in his 50s in Central Zone. The case included comorbidities.

Alberta has now delivered 2,841,779 vaccine doses, with 64 percent of eligible Albertans (ages 12+) having received at least one dose and 10.7 per cent are fully vaccinated with two doses.
