Ready For Summer!

Ponoka Splash Park reopens for season May 29

May 28, 2021 | 1:00 PM

A summer time amenity in the town of Ponoka will be opening for another season this weekend.

The Ponoka Splash Park is reopening on May 29 for the public to enjoy as summer weather approaches. The splash park will be open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with periodic breaks of about five to 10 minutes throughout the day to allow cleaning and disinfection of the facility.

In keeping with current provincial public health orders, Town officials say splash park users will be required to limit the number of individuals on the splash park pad and the grassy area around the splash park to 10 people at a time. Any changes to splash park gathering limits will be announced in the coming weeks and months following updated provincial public health orders.

Splash park users are also asked to follow the health and safety measures listed below to help keep themselves and others safe:

  • Avoid touching the spray features as much as possible while using the splash park;
  • Limit the length of your visit to one hour or less to allow everyone an opportunity to use the splash park, especially on hot days when user demand is high; and
  • Use hand sanitizer immediately before and after using the splash park.

Town of Ponoka washroom facilities will be open at the spray park for guests to use. Washrooms will be cleaned twice, at the beginning and end of the day, in accordance with public health requirements.

The Town of Ponoka thanks citizens for their continued diligence in following provincial public health orders and directives to help limit the spread of COVID-19. Ponoka citizens are encouraged to continue protecting themselves and others against the spread of the virus by following all provincial health requirements and getting vaccinated as soon as they are able.

A summary of the current provincial health restrictions and information on how to book a vaccine appointment are available online at www.alberta.ca/covid19.
