Red Deer Arts Council to host In The Neighbourhood Concert Series

Red Deer Arts Council has announced the second edition of their In the Neighbourhood Concert Series, running June to September 2021 in different communities in and around Red Deer.

The series is in cooperation with community organizers, neighbourhood associations and block connectors, and Red Deer County.

Officials say these live pop-up concerts will feature local musicians performing in outdoor green spaces for the residents of each selected neighbourhood, allowing for residents to sit physically distanced in public green spaces.

Marketing and communications regarding dates, times, and event locations will be limited within the neighbourhood to follow AHS provincial guidelines in place at the time on maximum attendance.

Officials say the Red Deer Arts Council is pleased to be able to support community connections and local performing artists through a grant provided by the City of Red Deer Family and Community Support Services and funding from Red Deer County.

It’s hoped the COVID-inspired summer project to build strong communities, improve mental well-being and celebrate arts and culture, is a source for joy in a trying time.

The second edition of the In the Neighbourhood Concert Series will feature approximately 20 local musical acts performing in green spaces for the residents of several neighbourhoods within the city and Red Deer County, allowing for physical distancing with residents seated on their private front lawns and neighbours on adjacent public green spaces.

Red Deer Arts Council was thrilled with the turnout of its inaugural In the Neighbourhood Concert Series between June and September 2020. All AHS gathering restrictions will be enforced and may affect the ability to proceed with this program of events.
