Access Prosperity spearheads manufacturing cluster in Alberta

Access Prosperity has announced the creation of a new manufacturing cluster, thanks to some generous funding from NGen (Next Generation Manufacturing Canada).

Officials say the MEE (Manufacturing & Export Enhancement) Cluster is a multi-partner, industry driven support network for the advanced manufacturing sector that will serve to elevate Alberta’s manufacturing sector in both national and global markets.

The MEE Cluster will originate in central Alberta with plans to quickly expand throughout the province.

Access Prosperity collaborated with InnoTech Alberta and Red Deer College’s Centre for Innovation in Manufacturing – Technology Access Centre to create the MEE Cluster.

“This project has been in the works for 18 plus months and we are thrilled to be able to make this announcement and create this cluster with the financial injection from NGen which will bring opportunities and prosperity to the manufacturing sector in Alberta,” says Pam Steckler, from Access Prosperity, in a press release.

Through networking and educational events, the MEE Cluster is anticipated to address concerns such as the slow adoption of new technologies, lack of collaboration between companies and institutions, limited access to equipment, lack of awareness of new technologies, and the economic impact of the COVID pandemic.

Officials say the cluster will include manufacturers of all sizes, primarily in the petroleum, agriculture, and commercial sectors.
