Rocky RCMP Report: February 26- March 4

This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of February 26 – March 4

Not all crimes reported are listed in this report.

February 26

1:32 P.M. – Licence plate stolen from a company vehicle while parked at the shop in RMH.

9:53 P.M. – Grey 2014 HONDA Civic stolen outside of residence in RMH. It was located a few days later after being reported abandoned in a RMH condo parking.

10:44 P.M. – Report of a disturbance at a residence on the Sunchild First Nation Reserve. An adult male kicked and smashed a window after refusing to leave. He was located and arrested by police and is facing new charges on top of the outstanding arrest warrants. He was remanded into custody and will appear in RMH Provincial Court on March 1st.

February 27

4:18 A.M. – Call of a male in a black 2005 GMC Canyon, who had gotten out of the vehicle and attempted to break into complainant’s vehicle. The suspect vehicle fled from police when located. It had been reported stolen from Edmonton.

7:55 A.M. – Report of a tool shack at Ferrier Gas Plant broken into overnight.

8:21 A.M. – Attempted theft of a pickup truck in RMH by an unknown male. A bicycle and backpack were recovered nearby. The matter is under investigation.

1:15 P.M. – Complaint of an extremely intoxicated male sleeping inside a store in RMH. He was taken to the hospital by EMS after falling on the floor and vomiting.

2:21 P.M. – Report of a door lock punched out and ignition smashed out of a vehicle while parked at the rear of a residence in RMH.

3:55 P.M. – Police came across a vehicle stuck in the ditch on the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve. Four individuals were arrested for Possession of Stolen Property when it was discovered that the GMC Canyon was the one, which had been stolen from Edmonton and was involved with a number of previous complaints. Charges are pending.

February 28

2:36 A.M. – 911 call of an attempted theft of a vehicle in RMH near 55 St & 57 Ave. Three people were seen getting out of a blue “jacked up” FORD extended cab pickup truck and trying to start the owner’s vehicle. They fled when he yelled at them.

4:31 A.M. – Call from an Energy company advising of two suspicious individuals, in a white DODGE Ram, observed on remote cameras at a lease site in Clearwater County. Police attended the location and discovered the culprits had left and that several trailers had been broken into. Tools, fuel, and a laptop computer were stolen. Under investigation.

7:02 A.M. – Child stroller stolen from the front yard at a residence in RMH.

1:57 P.M. – Complaint of an intoxicated male yelling and screaming at staff at a local motel in RMH. Police attended and arrested the individual who was released after sobering up.

4:29 P.M. – Report of a GMC Sierra Denali stolen from a residence on Range Road 5-1 & Twp Rd 36-4, Clearwater County. The gate to the property had been pulled down by the suspects. The vehicle was recovered in Red Deer the following day after police received a call advising of a female who was trying to trade off a suspicious, recently spray painted, truck at a car dealership. Police arrested the individual who will appear in Red Deer Provincial Court at a later date.

March 1

8:01 A.M. – Fuel reported stolen from a property on Twp Rd 39-5 & Range Road 6-5, Clearwater County. The suspect vehicle was a red SUV

11:26 A.M. – B&E to a RMH car dealership. Under investigation.

2:43 P.M. – B&E reported to a business compound in the RMH industrial area. An enclosed trailer was broken into. A pair of bolt cutters and 3 women’s purses were found. Under investigation.

5:49 P.M. – Attempted B&E to a garage at a business in the RMH industrial area.

9:45 P.M. – Police assisted a driver on the Forestry Trunk Road who had called for help after getting her vehicle stuck in the snow and having to walk for hours to get cell service. She was given a ride home to her residence in RMH.

March 2

6:58 A.M. – Vehicle stolen from a residence on Twp Rd 38-4 & Range Road 6-2, Clearwater County. Vehicle located by owner on road near residence.

7:56 A.M. – Report of a B&E to a beauty salon in RMH. Under investigation.

9:50 A.M. – A Polaris ATV side-by-side was reported stolen from a residence in Caroline. It was recovered later that day after the adult male suspect, from Caroline, was spotted by police in RMH. He fled from police on the machine and then tried running away on foot. He was released by a Justice of the Peace for a later court date in March.

4:21 P.M. – Police attempted to stop a vehicle in RMH, which was driven by an adult female who was recognized as having outstanding arrest warrants and not having a driver’s licence. After fleeing from police and driving dangerously in town, the driver ditched the vehicle and fled on foot to a nearby residence where she was arrested. She was released after a Judicial Interim Release Hearing on “no cash” bail. She is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court later in March.

March 3

6:06 A.M. – Two potato chip trucks were broken into while parked overnight at the north end of RMH. Holes were found cut in the fence to gain access to the yard. Chips and dip were stolen.

3:55 P.M. – Police arrested an adult male after he tried fleeing from police on a snow mobile. He was released and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court on a later date.

5:15 P.M. – 1996 red & beige CHEVROLET 2500 pickup truck stolen while parked near the railroad tracks in RMH for the day.

10:53 P.M.– 2005 black Pontiac G6 stolen from a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve.

11:46 P.M. – Report of an intoxicated female passed out in a doorway of an apartment in RMH. Police attended and arrested the individual who was released after sobering up.

March 4

7:41 A.M. – 911 call of a gravel truck passing a stopped school bus with its stop sign out on Highway #11 in the Nordegg area. The truck driver was also observed talking on his phone. Under investigation.
