Four people were arrested over the weekend after Mounties interrupted a break and enter in progress at a business in Innisfail.

Innisfail RCMP Members responded in the early morning hours on Sunday (Jan. 24), located a suspect pickup truck and witnessed one of the suspects fleeing the business and getting into the waiting vehicle.

One of the RCMP Members activated their emergency lights, and the suspect truck rammed the police vehicle, causing front-end damage. Police were able to immobilize the suspect vehicle and take four suspects into custody.

Police say there were no injuries to any of the responding police officers or suspects during the incident.

Matthew Verhoek, 37, Billy Condon, 34, Angela Hasnip, 29, and Jordan Ross-Achtemichuk, 26 of Red Deer have been jointly charged with break and enter, theft under $5000, wearing a disguise during the commission of an offense and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.

Verhoek also faces charges of assaulting a police officer, flight while pursued by a peace officer, numerous breaches of prior release conditions, and driving while unauthorized.

Condon was also wanted on numerous arrest warrants from Jasper, Red Deer and Wetaskiwin.

All four suspects were held for judicial interim release hearings. Verhoek and Condon were remanded into custody while Hasnip and Ross-Achtemichuk were released. They are due to appear in court later this month.
