Chamber of Commerce compiling list of what will be open and to what extent

In light of the enhanced public health measures announced this week by the provincial government, the Rocky Mountain House & District Chamber of Commerce is working on a list of local businesses that will be open and to what capacity.

They’ve sent out this survey to find out if businesses will be open between December 14 to January 12, and if they are open, to what extent.

Michelle Meatheringham with the chamber of commerce said that as of Wednesday afternoon, over 50 local stores have taken part in the survey.

She noted that the restrictions aren’t closing as many businesses as it had in the spring, but all will be affected in some way.

“The businesses that close Sunday at midnight, will be closing their services and able to sell retail if they choose.”

When the first closure in spring took place many stores struggled to find a way to remain open or continue to sell their wares, but Meatheringham says that she was impressed with how many coped, “We have witnessed many innovative and inspired ways businesses have adjusted to restrictions while providing products and services. These are examples of how strong our business community is and we look forward to working with them through these restrictions and going forward.”

The Rocky Mountain House & District Chamber of Commerce is hoping to have the list available to the public by early next week and have said they will continue to update it regularly while the province attempts to curb the rise in COVID-19 case numbers.
