Red Deer’s outdoor rinks open with some restrictions in place
The City of Red Deer says that starting tonight (Friday, Dec. 4) all neighbourhood outdoor rinks and Bower Ponds will be ready for skaters, with some restrictions in place in accordance with public health orders.
City officials say hockey nets have been delivered and lighting systems have been activated at all community rink locations.
The use of helmets is recommended at all times, and hockey is not permitted at Bower Ponds or the ice skating oval at Setters Place at Great Chief Park.
Current Public Health measures require the closure of Community Centres in Red Deer, including the operation of all Neighbourhood Activity Centres. As a result, citizens are advised that washrooms, indoor skate changing and warming are not available at this time.
