Red Deer College is teaming up with NOVA Chemicals, Red Deer County, and the City of Red Deer to launch a new online course to help local businesses navigate the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ‘Strategic Success for Businesses during COVID-19’ course is being offered through RDC’s School of Continuing Education. It’s an online credentialed course that college officials say is available to subscribing provincial companies and their employees in a concerted effort to help them adapt and safely operate throughout the ongoing pandemic.

RDC says the course will also help industry to prepare for the unpredictability of future waves of COVID-19 by receiving up-to-date information and education.

The college says the course is tailored to meet the recommended Alberta Health Services (AHS) protocols.

“I am very pleased that RDC was able to collaborate with three of our respected partners to help bring this valuable training virtually to Alberta businesses,” says Dr. Peter Nunoda, RDC President. “COVID-19 has created challenges for all of us across the province and globe, but the circumstances have also fostered a stronger sense of community, bringing many industries and people together. As we work with our industry and government partners to safely ignite the economy in our province, we are confident in the value that Strategic Success for Businesses during COVID-19 offers Alberta and central Alberta businesses and their employees.”

“Safety has long been a fundamental core value for NOVA Chemicals,” says Mark Hodson, NOVA Chemicals Joffre Site Leader. “Supporting the central Alberta recovery efforts is a priority and we are pleased to support the development of the Red Deer College COVID-19 training, both financially and through subject matter expertise on protocols to support safe operations.”

RDC says each participating business will receive relevant knowledge and skills to successfully navigate through a variety of circumstances, including the current COVID-19 measures established by the provincial government.

“The health and safety of our community and employees is Red Deer County’s highest priority. We want to ensure that businesses have access to the needed services during these difficult times,” says Curtis Herzberg, Red Deer County Manager. “Red Deer County understands that the central Alberta region prospers when we work together, and we appreciate the work that Red Deer College has done to provide support for our businesses so that they, in turn, can continue to provide service to our community.”
