Ponoka RCMP investigating armed robbery

Nov 13, 2020 | 9:42 AM

Ponoka RCMP are investigating an armed robbery at a local convenience store this week and are hoping someone from the public might be able to help them identify the suspect.

On Nov. 11, Mounties say the Reddi Mart in Ponoka was the victim of a robbery. It happened at 3:08 p.m., when police responded to a commercial alarm at the business.

A multi-unit response ensued, including members from Traffic Services and Maskwacis RCMP.

The suspect male was alleged to have had a knife and bear spray and demanded money before fleeing on foot with cash and cigarettes. Police Dog Services was deployed, but the male was not located.

The male suspect is described as approximately 5’7”, 150 pounds with an average build. His forehead appeared brown and his hair was dark brown but not black, and looked as if it had been recently cut.

RCMP say the suspect was last seen wearing a dark hat, a hoodie with an Under Armor logo, a neck warmer as a mask, black track pants, square blue sunglasses, grey sneakers and orange gloves.
