40% more than last year

Over 800 winter items collected at Charity Checkstop

Oct 5, 2020 | 1:50 PM

Despite the COVID crisis, generous Red Deerians stepped up and donated 821 winter items at Saturday’s Charity Checkstop, up 40% over last year, to keep families warm this winter.

In keeping with previous year’s donations, the Central Alberta Crime Prevention Centre received $12K in support for crime prevention initiatives in Red Deer and Central Alberta.

The Charity Checkstop was on Taylor Drive this past Saturday, October 3, in support of the Coats 4 Kids campaign and the Central Alberta Crime Prevention Centre.

The coats have been dropped off for cleaning at the sponsoring drycleaners – Classic Cleaners, The Coverall Shop, Sterling Cleaners, Mustang Laundry, Ultra Cleaners and Village Dry Cleaners.

If you missed the Charity Checkstop on the weekend, winter items for kids & adults can still be dropped off at these participating drycleaners until October 24.

The coats will be distributed to those in need through the Victory Church Clothing Zone on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1 – 4 p.m.

CACPC would like to thank everyone who donated winter items and cash, our volunteers, the media, and our crime prevention partners for another successful Charity Checkstop!

Meantime, the CACPC is excited to launch our first ever online ‘Christmas Cash Lottery’ 50/50 Raffle! You could win up to $5000 for Christmas! All proceeds will go towards supporting crime prevention in Red Deer & Central Alberta.
