Red Deer home sales down in August but up from same month last year

The number of homes sold in Red Deer last month came in lower than the previous month, but higher than in August of last year.

That according to the latest stats from the Central Alberta Realtors Association which show 133 homes sales in Red Deer in August – down from 161 in July, but up from 117 in August 2019.

Year-to-date numbers show 800 home sales in Red Deer compared with 915 homes sales over the first eight months of 2019, 982 in 2018, and 960 in 2017.

The average sale price of a home in Red Deer last month was $314,657 – down from $316,785 in July, but up from $301,861 in August, 2019.

That compares with $306,863 for an average sale price at this time last year, $335,217 in 2018, and $332,543 in 2017.

It took an average of 67 days to sell a home in Red Deer last month – up from 57 days in July, but down from 76 days in August of last year.

That also compares with an average of 66 days to sell a home at this time in 2018, and 67 days in 2017.
